Most of us feel dehydrated during summer months and experience low energy levels. Hence, it is very important that we should take extra care during the hot season. Here are some of my favorites that you should definitely add to your diet to fight against the hot climate.

1. Watermelon

Watermelon contains a high water content of about 90%. It provides hydration and also essential nutrients, including vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. Recent studies have found that watermelon seeds are also wonderfully nutritious, especially if they are sprouted and shelled. Watermelon has two vitamins — A and C — are important for skin and hair health.

2. Yogurt

Yogurt is a popular dairy product that's made by the bacterial fermentation of milk. It has a much higher amount of protein than milk. Your body uses protein to build bones, muscles, skins etc.. Another benefit of yogurt is that it’s high in calcium. It also makes your teeth more pretty. Research has also shown that yogurt may play a role in preventing diabetes.

3. Cucumber

Cucumbers are low in calories but high in many important vitamins and minerals. Cucumber contains 95% water content, which helps you stay hydrated and it protect your skin against the effects of aging. As a member of the Cucurbitaceae family of plants, cucumbers contain high levels of bitter-tasting nutrients known as cucurbitacin which prevents cancer.

4. Tomatoes

Tomatoes are loaded with many, many health benefits. The water content of tomatoes is around 95%. A single tomato can provide about 40% of the daily recommended minimum of vitamin C. Research suggests that processing and cooking tomatoes can increase their nutritional value. The fluid and fiber in tomatoes may be helpful if you're prone to constipation. Fresh tomato juice is brilliant when it comes to boosting your immunity levels.

5. Coconut Water 

Coconut water forms naturally in the fruit and contains 94% water and very little fat. Coconut water contains lauric acid, which helps in boosting your immunity. Coconut water also contains some potassium, which is essential for heart health and good skeletal and muscular function. Pregnant women are often recommended to have coconut water to fight dehydration and constipation. 

6. Muskmelon

Like other melons, muskmelon is also known for its high water content. This fruit helps to release toxins from the kidney as well as the body because of the presence of abundant water. Muskmelons are rich in potassium which helps in regulating the blood pressure. There are studies that have proved the potential benefits of muskmelon for hair growth. Their seeds also contain many health benefits as well.

7. Celery

Celery is 95% water, contains negligible protein and fat. Despite its high water content, celery contains some vitamins and minerals including potassium and calcium, both of which are important for heart health and it may also support male fertility. Some researchers have suggested that extracts from celery may also help prevent urinary tract obstruction and liver disease.

8. Lime Water

Limes are a good source of magnesium and potassium, which promote heart health. It boosts your immunity and improves digestion. The citric acid in limes can help those suffering from arthritis and it also burns more calories and stores less fat. It may also help decrease wrinkles and blemishes on your skin. Nutritionists often recommend drinking a glass of lime water with a meal to help prevent overeating.
